Priority HR Consultation

when an unexpected workplace issue arises, JLM is here to provide you with timely HR guidance so you can make that critical decision with confidence.

Some employee situations are too sensitive or time-critical to wait. When a significant workplace issue arises and you need experienced HR guidance before deciding what to do next, active JLM members can request a Priority HR Consultation.

Priority consultations are intended for urgent or higher-risk employee matters such as:

  • Harassment allegations

  • Discrimination or retaliation allegations

  • Disability or accommodation issues

  • Pregnancy-related employment issues

  • Threatened legal action

  • FMLA or leave issues affecting an employment decision

  • Terminations involving a recent complaint or other protected activity

  • Significant disciplinary actions involving unusual or higher-risk circumstances

How it works: Submit a Priority HR Consultation request through your member portal with a brief description of the situation, the decision you are facing, and when action is needed. JLM will review your request and, if it qualifies for priority support, make reasonable efforts to schedule your consultation within one business day, subject to availability.

Priority HR Consultations are $450 and provide up to 60 minutes of focused, individualized HR guidance on one specific matter. Additional research, document preparation, investigations, ongoing consulting, or legal services are not included and may require a separate engagement.

Priority HR Consultation is not a 24/7 emergency service. Matters involving an immediate threat to health or safety should be directed to the appropriate emergency resources.

What Is Not Considered a Priority Matter?

JLM determines whether a request qualifies for a Priority HR Consultation or if it can be addressed through membership resources or separately scoped consultations instead.

Priority HR Consultations are not intended for routine HR questions, planning, projects, or matters that do not require a decision or response within the next 1–2 business days. Examples include but are not limited to the following:

  • Handbook or policy reviews

  • Job descriptions

  • Performance management planning

  • General manager coaching

  • PTO or benefits questions

  • Routine documentation review

  • General HR strategy

  • Organizational planning

  • Issues that have been ongoing and do not require immediate action

Other Considerations

This is not a 24/7 service. Requests are reviewed during our established business hours. Requests received outside those hours are processed on the next business day.

Certain situations may require consultation with qualified employment counsel or another professional.

Immediate threats to physical safety should first be directed to appropriate emergency services or law enforcement, as applicable.

‍What’s Included

The consultation may include:

  • Discussion and assessment of the immediate HR situation

  • Identification of key HR considerations and potential risks

  • Discussion of practical options

  • Recommended immediate next steps

  • Guidance regarding whether additional HR or legal support should be considered

The consultation is designed to provide timely HR guidance for one specific matter. The fee applies to the consultation regardless of whether the matter requires the full 60 minutes.
